The Pyrenees

The Pyrenees are stunning. We drove through a mountain pass ('a small secluded road, meandering, carelessly...' that's Simon's creativity :P I regret it wasn't a bit longer but anyway ... let's continue). We visited places such as: La Seu d'Urgell, Sos del Rey Catolicco, Olite, Ujete ... and many others. All of them definatelly worth seeing, it would be really difficult to say which one was the most beautiful. We were enjoying the freedom of not using the GPS - just a good old map, a highlighter and a Lonely Planet guide.

We spent one night at a campsite and one in the ruins of an old castle along the Santiago trail. The campsite was cheap and friendly but had very limited facilities ... the only food they sold were jars of olives :). We found a closed restaurant nearby but the owner was so nice that he opened it for us!! Can you belive that?!! His mum cooked us one of the most amazing meals: lentil soup, chorizo salad and a bloody steak with blue cheese sauce. It tastes as good as it sounds :) Just to let you know... I wouldn't have eaten half done steak if I hadn't been already pretty drunk on a carafe of house wine.

Another night we spent in the ruins of a castle (or something else ... monastery maybe?... it was pretty much ruined so we're not sure:)) in the middle of nowhere . We met ther e pilgrims Camino de Santiago de Compostela ... we both liked the idea of a pilgrimage and I think one day we will try to walk this route ourselves.
